Kelly Ripa is keeping active during coronavirus. The 49-year-old talk show queen went down the balletic route on Tuesday – Kelly was a ballet dancer for 13 years – with a snapshot of the “Live! With Kelly and Ryan” host alongside world-famous dancers showing that she’s far from an amateur.
This would be the second ballet-related headline from the blonde this month – as COVID-19 continues to sweep the U.S., Kelly has been spreading cheer in various ways, recently showcasing a ballet kitchen video from American Ballet Theater dancer Isabella Boylston. Today saw Kelly herself give the barre a go.
She absolutely aced it.
A photo posted to the “Live!” Instagram account today very much acknowledged coronavirus – we’re all basically living from Zoom and Skype anyway. The image saw various dancers including Isabella and James Whiteside doing their ballet warmups in their homes – also featured was Kelly’s co-host Ryan Seacrest, although moves seemed limited from the “American Idol” host.
Kelly was nailing it, showing off her steely-strong thighs and muscle control as she extended her leg forward in a grand battement while wearing tiny black shorts, a strappy top, and dark socks. Kelly even rocked the ballerina bun look, also delivering a giant grin – she knows she’s got it.
A caption from “Live!” encouraged fans to tune into virtual ballet classes – you can give it a go.
“You can do #thecindiesballetclass Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 2pm ET on @isabellaboylston and @jamesbwhiteside’s Instagram Lives! @abtofficial,” it read.
Comments quickly came in.
“Kelly got some really nice muscle toned Quads, Sexy?,” one fan wrote.
“Loved watching the show ? but you May need a redo for people to follow the ballet kitchen exercise ?, another added.
Kelly and Ryan’s show stopped filming with audiences some weeks ago on account of COVID-19. It all moved fast, though, with the two now streaming their series from webcams at home while they quarantine.
2017 saw Kelly shoot Dance Magazine an email: “I was a ballet dancer for 13 years, and have the feet to prove it,” the star wrote.
As to Kelly needing to prove her ballerina status, that isn’t necessary. In 2019, Kelly attempted to break a record for the most number of ballerinas standing en pointe at the same time as possible – alongside achieving her goal and setting a new Guinness World Record, Kelly got everyone going by sharing photos and videos of herself on her toes from her home.
Early 2019 saw Kelly profiled by The Cut, with the blonde revealing that there’s an almost super-human aspect to her age-defying body.
“I was talking to a cardiologist and he said to make sure your heart beats out of your chest every day. The more you exercise, the healthier it is. And I can be honest: My body looks like Peter Pan no matter what I do,” she said, adding:
“I’ve never been a va-va-voom woman. I like to take AKT — which is cardio-based dance classes — about four to five days a week between 3 and 5 p.m. And I like to do SoulCycle on the weekends. In the summer, I like to run in Central Park because I think it’s so gorgeous.”
