Olivia Munn has found herself in hot waters after a contracted worker lost his life due to injuries suffered when working in her home.
New court documents obtained by TMZ revealed that Munn and her mother Kim Schmid were named as defendants in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of the late worker.
The worker, whose name is Celso Merida, was working to replace the roof during a renovation process in May when he fell and sustained severe injuries. Unfortunately, weeks later, Merida passed away.
The cause of his death was listed as blunt force traumatic injuries, and his family is suing the actress, asking for hefty damages.
In the lawsuit, Munn and Schmid allegedly hired an unlicensed contractor named Fernando, who contracted the job to the late Merida. The deceased’s family blames “The Newsroom” star and her mom for being “negligent” in hiring an unlicensed contractor.
Also, the mother-daughter duo was accused of not providing a safe work environment to the handyman. They reportedly made him work on the roof despite the absence of safety guards and fall protection.
Munn and Schmid were also blamed for not giving Merida the appropriate tools needed to perform the job safely and failing to be a part of a worker’s compensation program.
Merida’s family believes the pregnant star and her mother created an “unreasonable risk of injury” with their actions and want justice.
An Update On Olivia Munn And John Mulaney’s Relationship
The wrongful death lawsuit comes after Munn’s relationship with her baby daddy John Mulaney supposedly took a new turn.

As The Blast previously covered, Mulaney recently hired a lawyer to speed up the divorce process between him and his estranged wife, Anne Marie Tendler. The renowned comedian hired lawyer John Teitler from the notorious Teitler & Teitler law firm.
Tendler and Mulaney were married for six years before he filed for divorce after completing a 60-day rehab stint earlier this year.
Shortly after his split from his ex-wife, Mulaney found love in the arms of “The Predator” actress. In September, the “Big Mouth” actor opened up about his failed marriage and new relationship with Munn during a sit-down with late-night host Seth Meyers.
He explained that things happened quickly and divulged the news that he and Munn were expecting a child together.
The news of Mulaney hiring a new divorce lawyer is a breath of fresh air to the couple’s fans as they were recently plagued with rumors of a break-up.
Munn Has Been Candid With Her Pregnancy
Since the news of her pregnancy broke, the 41-year-old actress has been open about her journey and struggles. Last month, the soon-to-be mother confessed that she struggled with her body image during pregnancy.
She talked about how she couldn’t match up to the fashion expectations of a pregnant woman in the spotlight. Recently, Munn also spoke about her upcoming delivery date and how she had mixed feelings.
“I feel good. I feel scared, I feel nervous, and I’m excited,” she admitted. But she’s not the only parent feeling this way. The former television host revealed that Mulaney also had some concerns about fatherhood.
