Henry Cavill opens up about Superman's future and other roles he's considering.

In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, the British actor, 38, who played the iconic DC Comics character in Zack Snyder's 2017 film “Justice League" said he wasn't ready to hang up Superman's cape after playing the character for years.

While recalling the events that happened in the last movie, Cavill said, "There is still a lot of storytelling for me to do as a Superman, and I would absolutely love the opportunity."

He continued, “The killing of Zod gave a reason for the character never to kill again. Superman falling to the ground and screaming afterward — I don’t think that was originally in the script, but I wanted to show the pain he had. I did far more emotional takes they didn’t choose; tears were happening."

The actor added, "He just killed the last remaining member of his species. That’s the choice he made in that moment, and he’ll never do that again. There’s an opportunity for growth after that, to explore the psyche of Superman as a deep, seemingly invulnerable god-like being but with real feeling on the inside."

He then teased, "As I always say, ‘The cape is still in the closet.'”

Multiple Supermans?

Cavill, who worked alongside Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg, also starred in 2016’s "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

According to DC, there will be a new adaptation of the comic books, written by Ta-Nehisi Coates, and it will focus on a Black Superman. That said, Cavill may not be chosen for the role, but according to him, "Superman’s far more than skin color," adding that “Superman is an ideal. Superman’s an extraordinary thing that lives within our hearts. Why not have multiple Supermen going on? Joaquin Phoenix did a wonderful Joker movie; so what if it’s not tied to the rest of [the franchise]? They have multiple Superman comic book storylines happening at the same time.”

During the chat, Cavill also addressed some rumors of him playing the iconic James Bond since Daniel Craig playing the character has come to an end with his last movie "No Time To Die."

Despite handling multiple projects, the "Tudors" star revealed that he was open to the idea.

“I think it would be very exciting to have a conversation with the producers. … In an ideal world, I’d never have to turn anything down," he said. "Nothing is off the table. It’s an honor to even be part of that conversation.”

Currently, Cavill is working on Netflix’s "Enola Holmes 2" alongside fellow Brit Millie Bobby Brown, which will air sometime next year. In 2022, he's set to shoot a "Highlander" reboot. Last year, the actor wrapped up filming "The Witcher," which will begin streaming on December 17 on Netflix.

When asked about his life outside filming, Cavill said he's similar to Superman in more ways than one.

“I tend to slip off the radar when not working. I’m a private person and a family person," he said. "The spotlight is beneficial, but it can also be exhausting. I like to put my feet up without being concerned with how I’m being perceived or what I’m putting out there, and I can do that in a private space with friends and family."
