"my daughter, rosie, was born silent on november 24th 2020," Perri wrote in the caption, along with the photo of the album cover and a video containing the song.
She explained that since her firstborn, Carmella, had a lullaby when she was a baby, she thought it would be fitting to make one as well for her late child, saying, "i thought it was especially important to still do it."
The "Jar of Hearts" hitmaker continued, "rosie’s short and powerful life already served such a huge purpose in our world, and she has lovingly changed me, paul and carmella forever. we are more capable of love and compassion than we ever knew we could be. we learned how to hold space for loss and how to navigate unimaginable grief together and music always heals. releasing these songs for rosie is so important for our hearts."

A Painful Year
Perri first shared the news of her pregnancy loss last year in a now-deleted Instagram post. The musician had to deliver her baby around her third trimester due to complications.
"last night we lost our baby girl. she was born silent after fighting so hard to make it to our world. she is at peace now and will live forever in our hearts," she captioned the update, as seen on People.
In January 2020, Perri took to Twitter and revealed to her fans that she suffered from a miscarriage.
"Today i had a miscarriage,” she wrote. “Baby was 11 weeks old at the time. We are shocked & completely heartbroken.”
