Ed Sheeran And Elton John Have A Fun Holiday Collaboration On The Way

Ed Sheeran and Elton John are getting together for a rendering holiday Christmasy collaboration, and something is going on with its title.

Ed Sheeran recently appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and talked about how close he had gotten to Elton John.

He mentioned how Elton was supportive of his misery in recent times and how he would call him every so often after Ed lost a very dear friend.

John’s festival song ‘Step Into Christmas’ keeps ranking higher, Ed stated.

Following this, he said, since the songs come out good and the festival vibes take to everyone, Elton approached Ed to talk about a Christmas collaboration, which got him thinking.

Sheeran had a rather neutral to scared take at the proposal at first but soon seemed to blend in.

The ‘Perfect’ singer said, "I love Christmas, but I don’t know how I would feel about a Christmas song. When it comes to doing a Christmas song, you really need to sort of just get into it and chuck the kitchen sink at it.”

On further talking about how the entire thing came to be, he said how he wrote a verse after being seriously motivated.

" I don't really want to do a Christmas song unless we're going in, because only then is it going to speak the real tone of the holidays. If we are going all in then it needs to be a proper Christmas song.”

He continued, “I thought about it and then I wrote a chorus, and then when I was staying with him, we wrote three, and one of them was this one called 'Merry Christmas'." Sheeran said.

The 30-year-old later said that the name of the song might probably have to be changed due to the similar naming of other songs.

However, Ed mentioned that the both of them were very happy with how the thing came out to be .

To Ed’s surprise, Spotify had a little something too uncommon owing to which, he found out that there was no other song by the simple title of ‘Merry Christmas’ on Spotify.

While this may have done a number on the pair not to go ahead with the name altering, it is more likely that they will.

“The name of the song would have to be changed due to its common name. It’s going to be something cool and festival-like. Even though Spotify and YouTube do not have a name by a similar title, we would still go for something different. “

The entire 'episode' had funny and sweet interactions. Ed teamed up with Jimmy for a game of charades, following which he was paired with  Che for another round.

Che and Sheeran won the game after the comedian helped Sheeran guess the title of the movies 'No Time to Die' and 'Dirty Dancing.'
