Ariana Grande Wanted To Earn The Role In 'Don't Look Up'

Ariana Grande, 28, claimed on Thursday that she persisted on auditioning for Don't Look Up after director Adam McKay, 53, unexpectedly gave her a role in the film.
I Need To Earn This
Despite being promised that the job was hers, the celebrity singer claimed that she was adamant in her attitude during a remote visit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, telling the director: "I need to earn this."
Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, and Meryl Strip in the forthcoming sci-fi black comedy directed and written by Adam McKay, 53.
Jimmy, 47, inquired about Ariana's role in the film, to which she enthusiastically replied: "It was so exciting because I love Adam McKay."
Try Big And Try Hard
"I'm such a fan of his work. I'm such a comedy fan and I adore him.", Ariana said of the director whose credits include: Anchorman, Talladega Nights and Step Brothers.
"And he reached out and said, ''I have this role for you in my new movie.'' And I was like, ''Oh, my god. Well, hold on, because I have to audition and do my best, I need to earn this, I need to put myself on tape'',' Ariana revealed.
Golden Platter ...Yes
The director told Ariana that she didn't need to audition because it was a "little quick thing," so she asked to read it.
"I read it. I loved it. It was brilliant. I have this tiny, but such a fun and incredible part. I feel so excited that I got to be a part of this. It was really cool." Ariana said.
Riley Bina, who Ariana describes as "this aloof and somewhat ignorant popstar" whose romance with Kid Cudi's DJ Cello "eclipses the news of the Earth coming to an end, which is amazing," she said.
Ariana And Jimmy Fallon Encounter
Ariana gushed when Jimmy asked if she planned on doing more acting in the future: "I would love that actually. Yes, I think I will and I hope I get something."
"I am loving it! I love everybody on set. I love the coaches and contestants. They are so talented and kind and helpful. I believe in them so much. I know this is just the starting point for everybody but it is such a learning experience." Ariana said.
Jimmy mentioned that Ariana had already collaborated with Kelly Clarkson, 39, and John Legend, 42, from The Voice, and asked whether she would cooperate with Blake Shelton, 45.
"I personally would love that. I'm a little bit surprised that he hasn't reached out yet. For me to be on the remix of his most recent single titled, 'When I die, I hope I come back as a country boy.'
"I personally feel that I'm a perfect fit for something like that," Ariana said.
Blake's new song, Come Back As A Country Boy, was released last month, and she was referring to it. The Voice's live playoffs will begin on NBC on Monday.
