Sofía Vergara is about to join the league of badass female actresses with her new role as a real-life drug cartel Queen.
The actress' character in the new Netflix drama, "Griselda," is set to embrace the life she left behind for a sweet family in the famous sitcom "Modern Family."
E! recently shared the exciting news of the Hollywood sensation's drastic change from funny fashionista to savagely ambitious businesswoman.
Sofía Vergara Is Embracing The Darker Side Of Acting
After spending years as the sweet character Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC's comedy series "Modern Family," Vergara is about to become the infamous Griselda Blanco for Netflix's latest series.
The Colombian native is bringing out her roots in "Griselda," where she is the star of the show and one of its executive producers. The 49-year-old explained
"Griselda Blanco was a larger-than-life character, whose ruthless but ingenious tactics allowed her to rule a billion-dollar empire years before many of the most notorious male kingpins we know so much about."
During Blanco's time, the media referred to the infamous drug lord as the "Black Widow" and "Cocaine Godmother." The names were for her achievements as the founder of one of the most lucrative drug cartels in history.
Although the Hollywood sensation is new to the villainess genre, she appeared to be passionate about this series. Eric Newman, the "Chasing Papi" star's project partner, also sang her praises.
Newman, a writer and executive producer of the drama series, cited the "AGT" judge and the director Andrés Baiz as the brains behind the exciting series.
The "Modern Family" Star Is A Cancer Survivor
In August, The Blast shared the shocking news of Vergara's battle with thyroid cancer at the tender age of 28.
The unfortunate incident happened during the Columbian goddess's routine checkup, where doctors observed a strange bulge in her throat.
After a thorough examination, the "Madea Goes To Jail" actress was diagnosed with the illness. Naturally, the Screen Actors Guild Award winner was distressed by the news.
The "Hot Pursuit" star confessed that she was shocked by her diagnosis, but rather than giving in to fear, the 49-year-old managed to control her emotions.
The mother-of-one didn't limit herself to the doctors' advice but went ahead to research her ailment. The knowledge the actress attained made it easier for the TV personality to prepare for surgery.
At the time, the fear of death loomed over the "Machete Kills" star, but she was able to persevere through the surgery with the help of her loved ones and a positive mindset.
