'Sister Wives' star Christine Brown is breaking her silence on her stunning break-up with husband, Kody Brown, claiming the couple has simply "grown apart."

The TLC star announced the massive split on Instagram, saying the couple is breaking up after 25 years together. As you know, the couple skyrocketed to fame after being featured on the reality docu-series 'Sister Wives' -- where Christine was one of several wives married to Brown.

"After more than 25 years together, Kody and I have grown apart and I have made the difficult decision to leave," Christine began.

In the caption, Brown included several hashtags including "change is scary" and "change is good." She posted, "Thanks for your understanding and compassion!" alongside the IG post.

Interestingly, Kody addressed the situation on his own Instagram page, claiming it was Christine's decision to leave the marriage. "Christine's decision to leave comes with a great deal of sadness. We enjoyed many years together and I have a large amount of respect and admiration for her. Although we are moving forward on different paths, we will always remain committed parents," he wrote.

The 'Sister Wives' star received a bit of backlash over the statement, with several followers blasting him in the comment section. "Happy for you Christine, you deserve so much better...onwards and upwards," one person wrote. Another added, "Happy for her! She made the right decision. YOU made her choice easy. Enjoy your life with Robin said with eyes rolling."

Unfortunately, the former couple shares several children together, but only one of them is a minor. In other words, custody issues will most likely not be an issue for the ex-couple going forward.

If you aren't a huge fan of the show, Christine entered into a plural marriage with Kody Brown in 1994. At the time, Kody was already married to two other women -- Robyn Brown and Janelle Brown. Both of them were featured on the TLC hit series for the past few years.

The show is coming up on its 16th season, and Christine addresses her issues with the current marriage in the show's trailer. "Why would I want to live on the same property with a dysfunctional marriage where right over there, he's got a full-functioning marriage?" she said. Adding, "Who would ever want to live like that?"

She continued, "I don't want to look at the mountains and remember the angels, how they were singing and I felt this pull. I agreed to move to Flagstaff and I followed Kody here, but it's been a struggle the whole time," she said on the season finale in April. "I'm tired of feeling like I don't matter. I'm tired of not having his support when I really need it. I'm just tired. I need a partnership. I need something different than this."

In the end, Kody and Christine are not legally married, so it's unclear if she will file documents in the court system.
