'RHOC' star Kelly Dodd's husband, Rick Leventhal, has deleted the pictures of himself dressed as Alec Baldwin for Halloween, claiming he removed them out of respect for the shooting victim's family.
The former Fox News correspondent issued a statement regarding the controversial photos, where he was dressed up as the actor in cowboy clothing from the movie 'Rust.' Of course, the outfit included a fake prop gun.
As we reported, the reality show couple received a tremendous amount of backlash considering she was dressed as a Native American, and his costume was considered hateful towards Halyna Hutcins' family. Immediately following the push back, Rick responded "In no way was I trying to offend anyone, except Alec Baldwin. He’s a jerk and deserves all the heat he’s getting."
Kelly Dodd & Rick Leventhal: We Took The Posts Down Out Of Respect For Victim's Family
But, only 24 hours later, he decided to delete the post of the couple's outfit and issued a statement saying he removed it out of respect for Halyna's family. "People twisted our outfits and intent in ways neither of us could’ve imagined and filled our page with hate," Leventhal began.
He continued, "We took the post down out of respect for the victims’ families and only hope the cancel culture won’t cancel Halloween next."
It's an interesting move, considering just one day ago, the former Fox News anchor said he did feel bad for the family of the woman shot in the tragic accident -- but, insisted the costume was "never about her or them."
Instead, he focused the description on Alec Baldwin saying, "If Baldwin is anti-gun, why is he waving them around in movies and pointing them at people and pulling the trigger?" adding, "Focus your anger at him and the hypocrisy of that industry."
'RHOC' Star Kelly Dodd and Husband Blasted For Inappropriate Halloween Costumes
The 'Real Housewives Of Orange County' star addressed the haters who were offended by her costume -- posting on Instagram, "For you haters, I embrace my Native American heritage. I think the fashion is beautiful & this was a tribute & celebration."
As we reported, fans flooded the couple's social media pages and argued the costumes were inappropriate, even if you don't like Alec Baldwin. "I am a conservative and usually support you and Kelly but this is poor taste… I’m sure you wouldn’t be dressing up like that if it were your daughter that had been shot. Grow up and stop letting Kelly turn you into her puppet. 100% sure that costume was her idea," one person wrote.
Another added, "So disappointed in the Alec Baldwin comment. It was not his fault and the family lost their mother and wife. So disrespectful."
Tragic 'Rust' Shooting Is Still Under Investigation
Rick pointed out in his response that the costumes were picked out well in advance of the tragic incident, and only decided to make it 'Alec Baldwin' at the "last minute." He said, "We planned our costumes weeks ago, and I just decided to be [Baldwin] at the last minute."
It should be noted, the shooting is still under investigation by authorities in New Mexico, and up to this point, nothing points at the actor or his wrongdoing.
