Playing in the Super Bowl half-time show is potentially a nerve-wracking experience, even for seasoned artists like Shakira and J.Lo. The Colombian singer who absolutely killed her performance in the Super Bowl a couple of years back in Miami recently opened up about how tough things got just a couple of hours before the show. Apparently, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer wanted to make sure that she had fresh color on her hair when she stepped out on stage. That’s a smart thing to do you don’t want to look like you didn’t bring your A-game to the biggest stage of all. The problem was Shakira ended up putting hair dye on that turned her hair dark. That spiraled things almost out of control.

“You wouldn’t believe what happened to me the night before the Super Bowl. So I was dying my hair the night before the Super Bowl, with the exact same hair dye that I use every time. And that night, my hair decided to turn black!”

Shakira with black hair for the Super Bowl could’ve been a nice throwback for the fans that have followed the Colombian since the early days of her career. When she started out singing Spanish songs like, “Ciega, Sordomuda”, (by the way this song would never get released today taking shots at blind and deaf people) she generally had a dark hair base with braids, and some red lights. For the Super Bowl though she wanted to go blonde. So she and her hairstylist had to quickly figure out a way to get that done,
“We had to dye it again, using 40 [volume] peroxide water. My scalp got really irritated,” she ultimately ended the story by saying, “A lot of stuff happened after that.”
