Zendaya's earliest main role was the character of Rocky Blue in the Disney series "Shake It Up," but her career started earlier than that as a child model and a backup dancer. She was also in dance competitions and was a contestant on the 16th season of "Dancing with the Stars."

The 25-year-old has changed her acting style from a Disney darling to a confident woman in her prime in more recent movies. This is also visible in her clothing style and fashion choices. Her appearances in award shows and the like are always followed with awed looks because of her daring, beautiful choices.

An interview with British Vogue showed that before Zendaya became the confident chic person she is today, she was an awkward teen like everybody else, and she talked about one of those awkward moments.

The Z-swaggers Would Have Preferred Another Name

In her interview with British Vogue, Zendaya talked about her movies, her role as Chani in "Dune" and even mentioned how the name for her fans came about. Zendaya found the story funny and said that when she coined the name, she "thought it was cool at the time." She said her fans had still not forgiven her for the name and who would? Her fans are called Z-swaggers.

Zendaya said the name came about on September 22, 2011, when she posted for the first time on Instagram. It was a photo of her smiling with Davis Cleveland, a cast of Disney's "Shake It Up." In the interview, she said, "My mom took that picture of us after one of our live tapings, and it got 64 thousand likes." The mystery of the fan name lies in the caption of the post, which read "D-dogg and Z-swag."

This caption is not unusual because teenagers are known to blurt out whatever seems trendy and cool to them without proper thought, but for Zendaya and her loyal fan base, things like this are never truly forgotten.

"My fans still haven't forgiven me for the fact that somehow they became named the Z-swaggers … we don't really have a name as a fandom." Zendaya laughed and admitted that it was a poor choice, but she didn't know any better. She said, "It didn't age well. But that's ok."

Zendaya's Fans Don't Have An Official Fandom Name

The Z-swaggers have a lot to complain about; after almost being stuck with an unsatisfactory name, now they're saddled with a no-name fan base.

Whatever the name will be, we're sure the word 'swag' won't be in it because Zendaya laughingly said, "I've done some growing, you know. I don't use swag as often in my vocabulary, which I am grateful for."

This time Zendaya doesn't mind leaving the naming in the more capable hands of her fans.

"Have we brainstormed some new ideas?" She asked in the interview. No new ideas have popped up, but Zendaya showed she's still welcoming ideas when she said, "You guys let me know."

Zendaya's Recent Acting Roles

Zendaya's character Rue, in the ongoing series "Euphoria," has received a lot of praise from critics and the audience because of her outstanding acting.

As reported by New York Times, she made history as the youngest Emmy winner for Outstanding Lead Actress because of her performance in the series.

Another attention-grabbing role was her character Marie in "Malcolm and Marie," a Netflix film. This film also starred John David Washington as Malcolm and was shot in black and white theme. It was released at the start of the year and is Zendaya's first credit as a movie producer.

She will also reprise her role as MJ in "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which will be released in December. However, her most recent role is the mysterious character of Chani, who appears to Paul Atreides, played by Timothée Chalamet in "Dune."

Zendaya As A Fashion Icon In Her Movie Roles

Zendaya has been slaying the fashion icon look both on and offset. Her character in Rue didn't get popular just because of how well she acted; fans were always raving about Rue's style and statement-making makeup.

According to Allure, the main attraction was Rue's eye makeup, which always made headlines and was created by Donielle Davy, Euphoria's head makeup artist.

Although "Malcolm and Marie" was received with mixed reactions, Zendaya scored more points with Marie's chic dresses. Law Roach recruited Jason Rembert, Zendaya's stylist, to custom make a metallic Lurex "Zee" dress with revealing cutouts.
