Jessica Alba Talks Normalizing Therapy With Her 13-Year-Old Daughter

Everybody needs a support system, and the "Fantastic Four" star has got hers!

Jessica Alba is famous for her ability to capture the audience's attention with her award-winning performances and undeniable good looks. Aside from being a great entertainer, the 40-year-old was also an amazing mother.

While promoting her latest children's book, "A Bear to Share," with PEOPLE, the Hollywood sensation spoke on the importance of a support community concerning parenting and attending therapy sessions with her eldest daughter, Honor.

Being her children's rock hasn't always been easy, but the Hollywood sensation had three amazing people to lift her spirits.

Apart from her loving husband, Cash Warren, Alba enjoys the support of her good friends, Kelly Sawyer Patricof and Norah Weinstein.

Alba opined that she was lucky to have friends that have children at the same age as hers. The "Honey" star said:

"I think we're all sort of going through all of this together. So, that helps to have a community of support around you."

The actress said she could have an honest and open "dialogue" with her friends whenever she is confused about a situation and vice versa. A process that she believes makes parenting "less scary."

The mother-of-three also co-wrote her children's book, "A Bear to Share," with her friends and Baby2Baby brand Co-CEOs, Patricof and Weinstein.

The announcement of the humanitarian's mother-daughter therapy sessions first came in July during her appearance on the Instagram series, "Before, During & After Baby," hosted by Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt.

The entertainer's reason for this drastic move was to avoid communication barriers with Honor as the "Honey" actress feared her habit of treating her kids like babies would someday cause a strain in their relationship.

The 40-year-old also cited her poor connection with her parents due to their weak communication skills as another reason for seeking the help of an expert to prevent this pattern from repeating itself.

By encouraging her daughter to share her opinions in a safe space, the mother gained a profound understanding of Honor's personality, enabling the pair to have difficult conversations without issues.

During her interview with the news outlet, the "Fantastic Four" star got candid about her decision to open up on Schwarzenegger Pratt's Instagram show. The humanitarian explained:

"I think just trying to destigmatize what that is. It really is: How can I show up as a mom for my kids and be the best parent for her?... There really isn't one sort of recipe that works across the board."

Indeed there wasn't a foolproof parenting technique, which is why the ALMA award winner stated that the primary goal of the mother-daughter therapy was to be Honor's biggest supporter.

There is no guidebook on being a good parent as it involves following one's intuition on what he/she believes would be the right choice for their children.

Unfortunately, this means that there are bound to be good and bad parenting moments. 

Earlier in May, The Blast reported on "The Eye" star's worst parenting moment that ended with the 40-year-old balling her eyes out.

The Hollywood sensation may have scarred her youngest daughter for life as she confessed on her YouTube series, "Getting Honest," that Haven walked in on her parents' intimate bedroom moment. 

Although Warren found the situation hilarious, Alba broke down in tears before calling her sister-in-law Koa for advice.

The embarrassing incident was settled after the parents talked to Haven and explained the importance of knocking.
