Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Billy Gibbons, made a surprise appearance inside a Texas elementary classroom to read for a stunned group of 2nd-graders!
The 'ZZ Top' star rolled through Dallas, Texas on Thursday morning to participate in the coin toss for the undefeated Southern Methodist University Mustangs football team, as they faced off with the Tulane Green Wave. But, the bigger news is the rock star decided to stop off at a local elementary school and shock the students and teachers.
We're told the appearance was planned out last minute by the guitarist to visit his Godson, Greyson 'Queso' Kennedy, who attends John S. Bradfield Elementary School in Highland Park. The school's principal Regina Dumar and teacher Ms. Caroline Fischer worked with Greyson's father to set up the event. Queso's dad is legendary Las Vegas executive, Marklen Kennedy, who is also a successful Hollywood producer.

We're told the surprise went off perfectly, as the teacher strolled into the classroom side-by-side with Gibbons. After greeting the excited 2nd graders, Ms. Fischer asked if Gibbons would read to the class, and broke about the classic book 'A Light in the Attic' by Shel Silverstein.
"It would be my pleasure," Billy answered. Adding, "I've done a lot of things in my life, but I've never done this!"
In one of the greatest classroom moments of all time, the rock star sat and read the entire book to the children, in a soft-spoken and gentlemanly tone. And, the pictures are amazing!

Immediately following the storytime, Gibbons sat down with the principal of the school, who wasn't going to let this amazing moment go by without a little autograph session. "I hate to ask, but could you please sign something for me," Dumar asked. Of course, Gibbons graciously obliged and Mrs. Dumar broke out the most beautiful foam green Maple Neck Fender Telecaster guitar. The 'ZZ Top' star was amazing by the stunning guitar and asked where she acquired such a beautiful specimen.
"Oh, it's mine. I play," she responded.

The best part, not only did Gibbons get to visit his Godson and make the children's day, he met a rock star principal too! Only in Texas!
BTW -- Billy's coin toss went SMU's way, and the Mustangs went on to win and stay undefeated on the year.
As we reported, Billy lost his bandmate -- Dusty Hill -- over the summer after he passed away following hospitalization for a hip issue. The band issued a statement, saying, "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature, and your enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top.'”
Adding, "We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C. You will be missed greatly, amigo."
Coolest. Guy. Ever!
