With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle relinquishing their responsibilities as senior members of the royal family, there has undoubtedly been more pressure put on Prince William and Kate Middleton, as a result. And despite the smiles coming from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge during recent appearances, royal experts explain that the couple is still ‘reeling’ from the impromptu exodus to North America by Prince Harry and Meghan, not only from a duty standpoint but also from a supportive one, especially Prince William.
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the situation that has been unfolding since Prince Harry and Meghan’s move to North America are just beginning to hit the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Nicholl also revealed that the couple is still coming to terms with what has happened and how it is affecting Prince William and Kate. “I think the severity of what’s happened has had a huge impact on his brother, on his sister-in-law,” Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight in reference to Harry’s decision. “Both of them are still reeling from the news, coming to terms with the reality of this situation,” she added.

And while it seems that most of Britain is divided on what to think of Prince Harry and Markle’s decision to abdicate and move to North America, Prince William and Kate Middleton have been receiving warm praises wherever they have appeared.
Nicholl shared that the royal engagement in Bradford that Prince William and Kate attended earlier this month was greeted by a warm reception and that the couple seemed jovial, in an attempt to keep up their public image. “The warm reception William and Kate received has given them a huge boost,” Nicholl told OK! “They’ve stuck to the tried-and-tested approach, promoting a united royal family and it’s a success
Nicholl did acknowledge, though, that Prince William must be emotionally distraught from not having his only brother by his side anymore, especially when it comes to accompanying him on royal matters. “The past week must have been incredibly hard. With William busy performing royal duties, he’s not got his brother by his side right now and his father, Prince Charles, has returned to Scotland,” she inferred. Unfortunately, though, Prince William will have to continue on without his brother, moving forward.

Prince Harry recently gave a speech at the Sentebale charity in London at a dinner event, sharing with the people in attendance that he and Markle would be relinquishing their ‘royal highness’ titles and moving to Canada.
“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” the prince said. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option. What I want to make clear is, we’re not walking away, and we certainly aren’t walking away from you.”
