Let the mockery begin.
Kanye West has officially and legally changed his name to “Ye.”
The Blast obtained legal documents earlier this week pertaining to Ye’s petition to legally change his name.
The legal docs stated that Kanye’s petition for the name change was granted. It was a “tentative ruling,” where the rapper was not required to be present in court, for this request to be approved.
‘Kanye’ No More!
Kanye initially filed documents for this name change, in Los Angeles, back in August.
In the state of California, this request is fairly simple to get granted, unless it is only being done, in order to commit fraud, or other crimes.
Ye’s original full name used to be Kanye Omari West.
According to reports, the rapper changed his name to ‘Ye’ because he feels it is the most commonly used word in the bible.
Obviously, some people are amused by the name change including Trevor Noah.
I’m ‘Ye’ Get Used To It!
‘The Daily Show’ host absolutely ROASTED the rapper for the silly name change.
During the late-night show on Tuesday, October 19, poked fun at Ye’s new identity.
Trevor started out, “Today, the iconic rapper, fashion designer and self-appointed youth pastor made a big announcement. He is Kanye no more. From now on, is full legal name is simple Ye.”
“And I’ll be honest. I get why he changed it,” he joked. “I mean, if I had gone super MAGA like he did last year, I would also want to distance myself from myself.”
He then joked about his name and how he’d react to himself if he had gone all MAGA.
“Like, Trevor? Trevor who? I’m just Burrr,” he quipped.
The host then noted that changing your name to just two letters is so much simpler.
His joke continued, “Have you ever tried to input your name with an Apple remote? Yo, it’s why I never signed up for Paramount+. You have to scroll…”
His spiel was cut off by sirens while he said, “Yo, it’s a joke. Joke. I’m joking. I’m joking. I’m joking.”
After hearing the biblical reason why Ye changed his name, Trevor noted, “What does he mean that he believes ‘ye’ is the most commonly used word in the Bible?”
“It’s not a belief. It’s something you can count, and “ye” is not remotely the most common word in the Bible, he added. “Look I’ll say this. I joke about Kanye all the time, but this is one instance when I’m completely on his side. Changing his name might be the least weird thing he’s ever done.”
He does have a point.
Recently, Ye has been spotted sporting a white human face-like masks, which is absolutely terrifying.
