Social media giant Facebook may soon have a whole new identity. The change may be visible as early as next week.

Facebook Aiming At Metaverse

Facebook wants to rebrand in a way that focuses more on creating it a Metaverse platform. The decades-old social media platform will most likely join other applications like Instagram and WhatsApp to finally reside under the same parent.

This name change looks very much inspired by what Google did in 2015 when it put itself along with several other elements under the parent Alphabet.

Could It Be Because Of Bad Media Coverage?

Facebook has been the target for a lot of privacy breaches lately.

Last year, Congress leader AOC openly criticized and brutally questioned the innate disregard for people’s s privacy on a platform as widely used as Facebook.

If a layman were to come across the sudden news of a rebranding so big, they would consider that it a rather tactical move to clear the company’s name from all the recent scandals and give it a fresh start.

Top-Tier Secret Execution

The rebranding is on its way and could possibly be visible as early as next week. However, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has kept the ‘inside details’ and the ‘thought’ behind this sudden name change rather confidential.

If sources were to be believed, not even the senior officials and leading managing teams have full information on how to go about the rebranding of this level.

Hopes For The Near Future

Mark, the technical man that he is has long envisioned making Facebook a metaverse company. Slowly but surely, the billionaire is taking steps towards it.

In an interview in July, Mark said, “we will effectively transition from people seeing us as primarily being a social media company to being a metaverse company.”

This may be seen as one of the first signs that indicated a potential rebranding in order to upgrade the company’s technical background and save it from degrading publicity.

Facebook Planning Mass Employment

Earlier this year, Facebook put together a team of high-skilled individuals specifically dedicated to converting it into a large-scale metaverse platform.

As far as the scope of employment that Facebook plans to put forth is concerned, it is said to be in the process of formulating a plan that would open up as many as 10,000 job opportunities across the western union in the course of the next five years.

This step is in consideration of how Mark wishes to build and foster virtual reality experiences.

As much as people and media outlets are curious, when the question was put forth in front of the company’s spokesperson Joe Osborne, he said, "We don’t comment on rumor or speculation."

It is still unclear as to how long Facebook has been planning this name change for it to suddenly drop it on a Wednesday morning.

However, critics all around the world feel it is indeed a move to distract people and media from all kinds of horrible reviews and media coverage that Facebook has been getting for the past year.
