Flavor Flav was arrested for allegedly committing a domestic battery, and posed for a stunning mugshot once he was taken to a Las Vegas jail.
According to multiple reports, the ‘Public Enemy’ rapper was booked on the domestic battery charge on October 5, 2021. The incident occurred in Henderson, Nevada — a city on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The Henderson Police Department was reportedly called to his home after some sort of domestic disturbance.
At this point, it’s unclear who the victim is, except the criminal complaint outlines the allegations against the legendary rapper. According to the legal documents, Flav poked his finger on the victim’s nose, grabbed her and threw her down, and grabbed a phone out of her hand.
Following the arrest, the rapper was officially charged with misdemeanor battery constituting domestic violence. Again, it’s unclear what started the altercation, and whether the other person involved was also violent. Plus, reports don’t indicate whether or not alcohol was involved in the incident. It should be noted, this week marks the one-year mark of Flav’s sobriety from alcohol, and according to his manager, it has been 15 months since he had a cigarette.
As you can see, the mugshot is a bit shocking based on most of our thought of what Flav looks like during his public appearances. Here he is sans the sunglasses and giant clock.
The rapper’s attorney, David Chesnoff, issued a statement on Flav’s behalf saying, “In alleged domestic violence cases, there are often 2 sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.” In other words, Flav has his side of the story but is not going to get into it with the media.
This isn’t the first time Flavor Flav has had a run-in with authorities in Las Vegas. According to reports, Flav was arrested in sin city back in 2015 for driving under the influence. At the time, cops say he was also speeding and possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, along with having an open container of alcohol in his black BMW.
During the arrest, a Highway Patrol spokesperson said the rapper was pulled over around midnight for going 73 in a 45mph zone. He was also allegedly driving on a suspended license and was booked on all six charges.
At the time, legal issues were stacking up for the legendary rapper including a felony charge out of New York state after he was stopped for speeding on the way to her own mother’s funeral in 2014.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Flav has been accused of domestic violence either. Flav pleaded guilty in March of 2014 in Las Vegas for allegedly threatening the son of his longtime girlfriend with a kitchen knife. The charges were eventually reduced to misdemeanors after he agreed to probations and counseling.
Flavor Flav is due back in court for the domestic battery charge at a later date.
