Emma Watson has made a triumphant comeback on the red carpet!
The 31-year-old Harry Potter actress joined Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as other celebrities, for the first Earthshot Prize event in London on Sunday, Oct. 17.
First In Two Years
It was her first large social occasion since she went to the premiere of Little Women in December 2019, three months before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Everyone knew Emma Watson would be a force to be reckoned with from the moment she stepped into the role of Hermione in "Harry Potter." She's grabbed more of Hollywood's most wanted roles and become a feminist icon for an entire generation since her days as a child actor, all while building a name for herself in the fashion world.
She's come a long way in terms of elegance since she first walked the red carpet at the age of 11 years old. She has secured big high-fashion ad campaigns, adorned the covers of major fashion publications all over the world, and received some of the industry's most prestigious fashion accolades.
A Rather Captivating Red Carpet Appearance
Emma captivated spectators and made a major stylish look with a bright and sustainable style at Sunday's event.
The Evening Standard revealed that the Beauty and the Beast actress wore a flowy, white, backless and sleeveless lace and tulle asymmetrical gown-like top recycled from ten wedding dresses from Oxfam, a charity that helps impoverished women, to the environmental award show, where she served as a presenter. Emma completed the ensemble with black flare pants and black boots.
The extremely secretive actress was last seen in public in May, exiting a pharmacy with lover Leo Robinton in Los Angeles. He was nowhere to be seen at the Earthshot Prize presentation. Emma made unusual public comments after the couple was last seen together, in response to the allegations regarding her film career and her relationship with her boyfriend.
"Dear Fans," she tweeted. "Rumours about whether I'm engaged or not, or whether my career is 'dormant or not' are ways to create clicks each time they are revealed to be true or untrue. If I have news - I promise I'll share it with you."
She added, "In the mean time [sic] please assume no news from me just means I'm quietly spending the pandemic the way most people are - failing to make sourdough bread (!), caring for my loved ones, and doing my best not to spread a virus that is still affecting so many people."
For The Environment
The Duchess of Cambridge also wore a majestic lavender Alexander McQueen gown to the Earthshot Prize presentation, which she initially wore ten years ago at a BAFTA gala in Los Angeles during her and William's first joint foreign tour.
Emma's Harry Potter co-star Emma Thompson and actor David Oyelowo were among the celebrities who attended the Earthshot Prize presentation, which offers £1 million ($1.4 million) to five winners for their plans to solve environmental challenges. In addition, Coldplay performed with the help of 60 bikes, resulting in a sustainably powered show.
