Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t necessarily an actor that’s been labeled “hard to work with”. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to make as many movies as he does every year. The Rock, though, did go public with beef that he had with his Fast & Furious co-star Vin Diesel.
Apparently, there was an issue on set with the way that Vin addressed Dwayne. Vin Diesel downplayed the issue as an instance of him trying to get the most out of the actors he works with. Johnson wasn’t having it, though, and called him out through an IG post. Now The Rock is saying the two have spoken about their differences. That doesn’t mean they’re friends.
Does The Rock Regret Going Public With His Beef With Vin Diesel?
Johnson recently had a sit down with Vanity Fair for their cover story of the month. This is where he was once again asked about his issues with Vin Diesel. One of the topics that was discussed was whether he was remorseful of being so public about his problems with his co-star. Dwayne’s answer was actually very forthcoming. It’s pretty surprising that he didn’t side step the topic. The Rock did show a sense of remorse in his answer saying,
“It caused a firestorm. Yet interestingly enough…[it was] as if every single crew member found their way to me and either quietly thanked me or sent me a note. But, yeah, it wasn’t my best day, sharing that. I shouldn’t have shared that. Because at the end of the day, that goes against my DNA.”

What He Meant By The Candy A**** Comment
In the original IG post The Rock referred to some of his co-stars as candy a****. This was clearly “The Rock” speaking and not necessarily Dwayne, as this was a term that he would use quite regularly in his time in WWE. In the interview he was asked to clarify what exactly the term means to him. To pretty much make it clear what type of insult he was throwing out. What followed was The Rock giving a thorough explanation of the term.
“A candy a** is something you don’t want to be. And the best way that I can describe a candy a** is: Life is so much easier, I have found, when you are not full of sh**. And a candy a** is completely full of sh**.”
The Meeting After The IG Post
Dwayne did confirm that he and Vin Diesel had met after his IG post went viral. By the way, he has since deleted the post. The meeting wasn’t necessarily a peace offering, or it didn’t lead to peace between the two. At least that’s something that Johnson is making clear. Through his comments he’s potentially leaving his future in the Fast & Furious saga very much in the air. The two essentially are agreeing to disagree, Johnson mentioned,
“Well, there was a meeting,” Johnson would go on to say, “I wouldn’t call it a peaceful meeting. I would call it a meeting of clarity. He and I had a good chat in my trailer, and it was out of that chat that it really became just crystal clear that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. And agreed to leave it there.”
No Return For The Rock To The Fast & Furious?
At this point there’s an argument to be made that no one should return to the Fast & Furious movies. Vin Diesel milked that cow enough. However, the franchise does still hold a respectable legion of fans. It’s highly unlikely that the Rock will continue to work in the franchise. At least not sharing scenes with Diesel. Johnson actually confirmed that he only returned for “The Fate of the Furious” under the condition that he share no scenes with Vin Diesel. It seems unlikely that the two could come to a similar agreement again.
