Dog The Bounty Hunter is stopping his efforts to locate suspected killer Brian Laundrie, after suffering a serious injury to his ankle while on the hunt.
Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman has been in South Florida for days searching for Gabby Petito’s fiance, who went missing after authorities zeroed in on him for possibly being responsible for her death.
Unfortunately, Dog was badly injured while searching for the missing suspect, and it reportedly has to do with his ankle. The reality star is headed back to Colorado to received treatment on the injured ankle. The good news, he isn’t giving up his search, and the ‘Florida Team’ connected to the reality star is continuing their search in the same area.

Also, Dog and his team will continue to work on the case while in Colorado. Remember, Dog is fielding phone calls from all over the country on his 833-TELLDOG phone line, and passing the messages to the team in Florida.
“Just got an update from Dog the Bounty Hunter’s team,” a Colorado reporter tweeted. Adding, “They say he’s headed back to Colorado soon to meet with his doctor after injuring his ankle in the search. He’s also raising funds to continue what he calls an ‘expensive search’.”
Dog’s daughter, Lyssa Chapman confirmed the news on Twitter, saying, “Dad is headed back to Colorado temporarily to handle some business. (Remember, he was in Florida on his honeymoon) We are still actively searching for Brian Laundrie, leaving a team in place in Florida. As always, whatever I can share with you, I will.”
Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman Will Continue Working The Gabby Petito Case In Colorado
As for any big updates with the search, Baby Lyssa continued, “Hi guys, I was locked out of Twitter due to account security. Just got back in…A lot of people asking about my last tweet with big news. I’ve been asked to not share active information due to the large amount of media surrounding the case.”
At this point, authorities have not found Laundrie, almost a month after an arrest warrant was issued for him. The suspect’s sister, Cassie, says she does not know where her brother is — but, claims she is working with authorities on the search. Brian’s sister says if she could talk to her brother, she would tell him to “just come forward and get us out of this horrible mess.”
Body Discovered Is Not Believed To Be Brian Laundrie
Earlier today, news broke that investigators had found a body in North Carolina, but the FBI says there is no reason to believe it is Mr. Laundrie. “The body discovered along the Blue Ridge Parkway on Saturday, October 9, 2021, is part of an ongoing investigation. At this time, there is no evidence to connect or any reason to believe it is related to the search for fugitive Brian Laundrie,” the FBI said.
As we reported, Dog the Bounty Hunter was searching in a swampy and uninhabited island off the coast of Florida. Due to the terrain, the team has been searching through it at a slow pace. It appears Dog injured his ankle while trekking through the dangerous environment.
The ongoing search continues.
