Not only is Kim Kardashian continuously leveling her family members up, she is also taking her associates along with her. Emma Grede is the co-founder of Skims, the shapewear brand that Kardashian has made popular.
While she normally spends her time behind the scenes, Grede is now coming to the forefront as the newest member of Shark Tank

1st Black Woman!
Grede, who is also the CEO and co-founder of Khloe Kardashian’s Good American brand will be the first black woman to guest host the popular show. She joins the show’s 13th season that premiered on Oct.8.
The entrepreneur announced her latest endeavor on Instagram just ahead of the new season. “Who’s ready for Me in the Tank?! The #sharktank season premieres this Friday 7/8c on ABC,” she wrote accompanied by a photo of her in a bomb AF green suit.
The Shark Tank family also extended an IG welcome to Grede. @emmegrede, everyone welcome her to the tank Friday at 8/7c during the season premiere of #SharkTank.”

Good American
She recently spoke about her company Good American and how she didn't have to strive to make it a diverse group. “I never set out to create a company that was rooted in principles of diversity. That’s just what happens when a Black woman is at the helm of a company.”

She also made a few points that will help her be a great shark on the reality show. In her company, she highlights diverse body types and making sure to account for those who often feel left out. She attributes this mind frame to her upbringing.
“Decisions are made with this viewpoint that I grew up with. The women in my family are super curvy, and I don’t want to count a whole bunch of people out because fashion can’t be bothered or can’t figure it out.”
Upping The Diversity
Shark Tank is just one of the many shows upping the presence of diversity on their program. That goes for both the guests and the sharks. Each will more so focus on the actual product and discussing not just the mass audience that the product appeals to but the cultural audience as well.
OG Shark Barbara Corcoran has also been making the rounds promoting the upcoming season of Shark Tank. Unfortunately, after a shaky appearance on The View last week, fans believe she may clash with Grede and her beliefs.
Did You See ‘The View’?
Corcoran came under fire for commenting on the weight of The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg. She joked about being able to split one of the comedian’s pants in half and make two pairs for herself. Do you see the problem here?
Grede makes jeans and shapewear for all body types, this is bound to make for awkward conversation between the two. Almost as awkward as everyone on stage felt when she let the insult slip on live TV.
That being said, Grede will be a breath of fresh air on the long-running reality show. There are only two permanent women Sharks on the show, Grede could make a permanent third if she is lucky.
