Kieran Culkin is looking back at a difficult time in his brother Macaulay Culkin's life and childhood.
The brothers, who were both child actors and are now A-listers in the industry, and have had quite the journey to fame. However, it was notably harder for older brother Macaulay due to his "Home Alone" fame.
During his recent sitdown with The Hollywood Reporter, Kieran dished on the struggles his brother faced in his younger years.
Getting Harassed Due To Fame
After snagging the role of Kevin McCallister in the comedy film and its sequels, Kieran shared in his cover story for the publication that his brother soon started getting harassed by strangers. Recalling a particular situation, the 39-year-old said:
One time, a woman pulled off his hat and looked at him and said, 'Yeah, it's him! You're not that cute.' And then handed the hat back and walked away.
Given that Macaulay is one of the biggest child stars in history, he was often the center of attraction wherever he went. Unfortunately, however, that wasn't the only abuse he faced.
In the past, the "Richie Rich" star has accused his father, Kit Culkin, of being abusive. Well, Kieran touched on the subject while speaking to the magazine.
Kieran, who also starred in "Home Alone" as Macaulay's character's cousin, stated that his father wasn't abusive towards him. However, he alleged that Kit was never a good parent or a good person.
Macaulay and Kieran, alongside five other siblings Shane, Quinn, Rory, Christian, and Dakota, were born to Kit and his wife Patricia Brentrup before they split in 1995. Unfortunately, the family experienced a devastating loss in 2008 when Dakota died.
Kieran On His Sister's Demise
The "Succession" star also discussed his sister's death in the interview. Dakota passed away in 2008 from a tragic car accident while crossing Lincoln Boulevard in Marina del Ray.
Kieran, a father of two, described her demise as the worst thing that ever happened to their family. He explained that the family was "torn up inside," and every member processed the tragic incident differently.
Although it has been over a decade since Dakota died, Kieran still deeply feels her loss, especially since his kids were not given a chance to meet their aunty.

To continue honoring her memory, Kieran incorporated a playful statement Dakota used to say in a scene shared with his on-screen sister, played by Sarah Snook, in season 3 of his famous HBO show.
Macaulay, in his own way, has also honored his sister's legacy. The actor who recently welcomed his first child with girlfriend Brenda Song named his son Dakota after his late sister.
