Many of her fans and followers know that Kardashian loves attending the annual Met Gala in New York City, a fundraiser whose proceeds go towards the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Department. In recent years Kardashian has shown up and shown out, wearing designs that have ranged from beautiful, to bizarre. Though she's always kept a look of confidence in front of the cameras Kardashian admits that there was one look she wore which garnered a ton of negative criticism.

In a recent interview with Vogue (via Showbiz Cheatsheet) Kardashian opened up about her twenty-one favorite looks, and she also threw in a few of her not so favorite looks for good measure. And she went into further detail about the floral print, floor length Givenchy gown she wore to the 2013 Met Gala now known worldwide as the 'Couch Dress'.

“Kanye [West] was performing so I wasn’t actually invited, I was just Kanye’s plus one. And that was okay with me because I never really dreamed I would be at the Met Ball,” she said, adding, “I know no one really probably wanted me there at the time.”

Kardashian claims she was happy to attend the Gala, especially after learning that her outfit was approved by fashion maven Anna Wintour. However, once she hit the red carpet and the memes began popping up, it completely changed her mood on the ride home.

“And then I was crying the whole way home because I just couldn’t believe it,” Kardashian West remembered. “There were all these memes about me and this couch, and I think Robin Williams even tweeted it, said I looked like Mrs. Doubtfire.”

Years later Kardashian admits at the time she wasn't able to speak up for herself the way she wanted to, initially preferring to wear a black gown instead. However she has made her peace with the couch dress. And was even given words of encouragement from two very influential fashionistas.

“Now I love it,” she said. “I look back and I’m like, ‘Wow, they had the vision. This is sick.’ I just remember the Olsen twins came up to me and loved my outfit and my gloves, so none of the critics mattered because the Olsen twins approved.”
