He Showed Up At The Opening!

Eminem, who was wearing a sweater clean of vomit, manned the alley window of the small diner on Woodward Avenue when it first began serving patrons. According to Complex, the musician only served the first 10 customers their takeout orders of spaghetti and meatballs (which also has a vegan option). That said, the lucky fans got the chance of their lifetime to take pictures with the rapper at the counter.

That day, the line for the opening day celebration was too long -- stretching for blocks around Detroit's Foxtown neighborhood, as per the Detroit Free Press. Some supporters were way too excited for the opening, which was at 5:00 p.m., that they camped out since early morning. According to the publication, fans were treated to a rendition of "Lose Yourself" by the Cass Tech Marching Band while waiting. For those who don't know, the lyrics of his 2002 hit inspired the restaurant's name:

"His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti."

As per the outlet, the record producer was off with his entourage in a pair of SUVs right after serving his first set of customers. His surprising act was one for the books, as he rarely made public appearances.

While there, Eminem was all business -- greeting fans and handing out their containers. He ignored reporters who shouted questions at him through the window.

Here is a video of a fan who couldn't contain her excitement while meeting the rapper:

The Concept Started Years Ago

Eminem initially started the food concept in 2017. He opened a pop-up shop of Mom's Spaghetti at Detroit's The Shelter while promoting the release of his album, Revival. He also supplied containers filled with pasta to the healthcare workers of Henry Ford and DMC hospitals last year.

"We've had a lot of fun putting this project together with the folks at Union Joints, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive," Eminem's manager, Paul Rosenberg, said in a statement. "The previous pop-ups were really a test for us to determine whether there was enthusiasm for a regularly-occurring Mom's Spaghetti spot that would be open all year long."

The walk-up window of Mom's Spaghetti restaurant can be found in an alley between Union Assembly and the Fillmore. It's a relatively small space, but fans wouldn't miss it. The eatery's logo, featuring a red heart with a fork through it and a sash with the "Mom's Spaghetti" name, can be seen above the glass window, sticking out the wall.

His New Merch Shop

Slim Shady also opened The Trailer, a little merch store located right above Mom's Spaghetti. As per Rosenberg, the shop is a "uniquely-curated environment" where fans can obtain items inspired by Eminem and his restaurant, including limited-edition merchandise and memorabilia from the rapper's archives.
