One of the men arrested and charged with the murder of XXXTentacion now feels like he may have been handed a raw deal, and wants a private investigator to see if the evidence investigators have gathered actually proves that he committed a crime.
Dedrick Williams filed documents last week, obtained by The Blast, requesting the court to grant him a private investigator, but needs permission to authorize funds that he does not have to cover the costs of an investigation.
Williams, who was the first person arrested and charged in connection with the hip-hop star’s slaying, explains his attorney has identified a P.I. who can work the case, but they need the court to authorize a $10,000 payment for the services.
The man, now famous for his bright orange sandals worn during the murder of XXX, also wants permission to hire an expert for cell phone tower analysis and cell phone forensics, and believes the evidence is critical to him receiving a fair trial.
Unfortunately, Williams cannot pay for his legal services with the money he allegedly stole from the 20-year-old rapper as he lay dying in his car. Those funds have been entered into evidence, after Williams went on a spending spree with the cash the day after the murder and it led to his eventual capture.
Since the killing, cops have been working around the clock and arrested all the people they believe were involved in the murder. The 4th and last suspect, Trayvon Newsome, was tracked down and arrested last week.
A judge has yet to rule on Williams’ request.
