Police have been able to track down and arrest the man they feel is responsible for the shooting death of rapper XXXTentacion.
According to the Deerfield Beach Police Department, Dedrick D. Williams was taken into custody Wednesday, two days after X was shot in his car while leaving a motorsports shop. Officials say he was taken into custody in nearby Pompano Beach.
The 22-year-old is facing charges of first-degree murder, a probation violation for theft of a car or motor vehicle and driving without a valid license.
Williams is reportedly a local tattoo artist and his motivation for allegedly going after X is currently unclear. As we reported, investigators were also keying in on a bank stop X made before heading to the motorsports shop, and it was believed he took out a large sum of money with the intent of making a purchase on a bike.
According to court records, Williams was arrested last November for possession of a firearm and possession of cocaine after cops found a loaded Glock on his couch and "a red baggie with a white substance" in a dresser of his apartment.
When the shooting occurred, cops were searching for two suspects. It's unclear if they are still looking for another suspect after the arrest of Williams.
The Blast broke the story, the fatal gunshot was located under X's jaw, although it's unclear if he struggled with the shooter before the gun went off.
