When Zoolander came out in 2001, it was a huge hit and is one of Ben Stiller’s career hits.

Zoolander 2 failed to succeed like its predecessor and was a box office failure.

Many film critics didn’t like that the sequel failed to distinguish itself from the first movie.

Stiller revealed during an interview that he was a bit happy Zoolander 2 bombed at the box office.

He said that it freed him from the expectation to make a Zoolander 3 and allowed him to focus on a passion project.

The passion project was a limited TV series, Escape at Dannemora, which was a huge success.

Stiller said that if Zoolander 2 was a success, it would have distracted him from following his passion for directing something.

Escape at Dannemora premiered on November 18th, 2018 and was based on the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility escape.

Escape at Dannemora was a big success and was nominated for several Golden Globe Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards.
