Willow Smith got candid about her days as a child star.

She shot to fame in 2010 hit song, “Whip My Hair.”

She was just 10 years old when the song came out and less than two years later she wanted out of the spotlight.

She recently sat down with Bevy Smith on Sirius XM’s “Bevelations” and got candid about her decision to step back from the spotlight.

“I saw at a very young age the dark path I could’ve gone down,” she admitted.

“I think I kind of caught myself before my coping mechanisms started too early. I just knew I was on that edge. I could feel it.”

At the time she didn’t know what those feelings were, but explained she’s very thankful she made the decision to step back.

Willow noted that if she hadn’t stepped back, there could’ve been some “earlier tragedies.”

“I knew I needed to be a kid,” Willow continued.
