“Star Trek” alum William Shatner took an 11-minute space trip on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin.
After he arrived back on Earth, he described the “profound” experience the trip had on him.
Shatner, 91, reflected on the trip in his new book, “Boldly Go: Reflections on a Life of Awe and Wonder.”
He said that he had often been “thrilled” by the “mystery of the universe.”
However, he said that when he looked into space “all I saw was death.”
“My trip to space was supposed to be a celebration; instead, it felt like a funeral,” he wrote.
He called the trip “among the strongest feelings of grief I have ever encountered.”
Shatner said the whole trip filled him with a sense of “overwhelming sadness.”
However, he did say that the experience made his connection to Earth more “profound.”
