The stunt was to promote his upcoming pantomime production of “Mother Goose.”

Comedian John Bishop and former “The Great British Baking Show” host Mel Giedroyc were also there.

The two will also be starring in the four-month production of the shower.

McKellen will play the title role of Mother Goose, also known as Ma.

John Bishop will play Mother Goose’s husband Vic, known as Pa.

The show will start at the Theatre Royal Brighton in December.

It will them embark on a four-month tour around the U.K.
