Twitter has reached a settlement for $150 million dollars to resolve a joint lawsuit.

The lawsuit was brought by the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed the settlement was filed the same day as the complaint in California federal court.

The complaint alleged that Twitter misrepresented the way they used customer data.

This included voluntarily disclosed information, such as email addresses and phone numbers.

The features were put in place, Twitter claimed, to enhance account security.

However, the FTC alleged that Twitter was selling that information to third-party advertisers.

On Wednesday night, Twitter paid a $150 million dollar settlement in response to the allegations.

They reached a similar deal in 2011 when they were previously accused of misrepresenting how they used customer data.
