‘The Wire’ Star Michael K. Williams Found Dead In New York City Of Possible Drug Overdose

The Emmy-nominated actor was found dead in his Brooklyn home on Monday, September 6, sources told The New York Post.

Williams, a Flatbush native, was reportedly found in the living room of his Kent Avenue penthouse by his nephew.

Drug paraphernalia was reportedly found at the actor's home at the time of his discovery, suggesting a possible overdose.

A law enforcement source told The New York Post that there was “No foul play indicated" and "No forced entry, the apartment was in order."

The medical examiner will have to run toxicology screenings and an autopsy to officially rule the cause of death. Reports suggest the actor may have fatally overdosed on heroin or fentanyl.

Williams was famous for his role as Omar Little on the popular television series, ‘The Wire.’ He had another massive comeback on TV with Chalky White in ‘Boardwalk Empire.’

He was open about his struggles with drugs throughout his career, saying playing the character in ‘The Wire’ affected him in real life.
