The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has finally apologized to Sacheen Littlefeather.

Littlefeather represented Brando at the 1973 Oscars, taking the stage to decline his Best Actor award.

Brando declined the award to protest the poor treatment of American Indians in Hollywood.

Guests booed Littlefeather at the event, and she was blacklisted in the film industry.

In a documentary, she revealed that Brando loved her performance but abandoned her.

The Academy has finally offered Littlefeather a written apology for all she endured during and after the event.

They also invited her for a conversation focusing on reflection, healing, and celebration.

In a statement released by the Academy, Littlefeather accepted the written apology.

She said it is a dream come true to still be alive for the moment and see how much has changed.
