Scientists at Virginia Tech just found a new species of twisted-claw millipede.

They actually found a total of seventeen new species.

The lead scientist, Derek Hennen, is a big fan of Taylor Swift’s music.

Therefore, he decided to name one of the species after her.

The species was officially named Nannaria swiftae.

Although they bear her name, they don’t look like Swift at all.

For starters, they’re only 18 to 33 mm lon.

They have shiny, caramel-brown to black bodies with white, red, or orange spots, and white legs.

The males are said to have small, twisted and flattened claws on their anterior legs.
