Brazilian soccer star and legend, Pele, has died at age 82.

The three-time World Cup winner passed away after his colon cancer had advanced on December 21st.

He had a tumor removed from his colon last year and informed fans in October he was on the mend.

Sadly, his condition worsened and needed treatment for cardiac and renal dysfunction.

Pele is considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time.

Per reports, Pele was admitted to the hospital on November 30th with swelling all over his body and 'decompensated heart failure'.

Additional reports claimed the legendary soccer player was struggling to eat and that his chemotherapy was no longer working.

“RIP TO THE GOAT” began trending on Twitter on Thursday, December 29th.

His family announced the death on his official Instagram page.
