Simu Liu revealed that he was devastated after being rejected for a role in “Crazy Rich Asians.”

He said he eventually got over his disappointment and was happy when the film premiered.

He said he auditioned for the movie four times and was rejected every time.

He asked his agent to get an explanation because he felt like he had really positive feedback initially.

The casting director got back to him and said they didn’t feel he had the It Factor they needed.

Liu felt that the feedback was really saying that he wasn’t good enough or likable enough.

The rejection made him take a step back and realize he seemed too desperate and needed to be confident.

Liu later found his way to stardom as the lead role in Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.”

He now has a role in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” alongside Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, and Ncuti Gatwa.
