On Wednesday, Sheryl Sandberg announced that she was stepping down as COO of Meta.

Sandberg has been with the company, first called Facebook, for the past 14 years.

She wrote about her departure in a lengthy statement she posted to Facebook.

She had nothing but positive things to say about Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Sandberg called him “a true visionary and a caring leader.”

She said “sitting by Mark’s side” has been “the honor and privilege of a lifetime.”

“He sometimes says that we grew up together, and we have,” she added.

However, she noted that he was 23 and she was already 38 when they first met.

She thanked him for “being one of the best friends anyone could ever have.”
