Many fans were disappointed to see Shaun White walk away without an new Olympic medal.

Shaun White only placed fourth in his last Olympic event.

This also marked the last time he was competing before he retired from snowboarding.

Japan’s Ayumu Hirano, 23, walked away with the gold medal.

This is Hirano’s first gold. He has two silver medals from previous Games.

This is also Japan’s first-ever gold medal in the snowboarding event.

Australia’s Scotty James, 27, won second place.

Switzerland’s Jan Sherrer, 27, took home the bronze.

Even though he lost, White is still one of the greatest of all time!
