Many “Harry Potter” stars have tried to distance themselves from J.K. Rowling.

In 2020, she published a long essay on her views on gender and sex.

Many fans have interpreted her essay – and subsequent tweets – to be anti-trans.

However, Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, still talks to her.

“I don’t necessarily agree with everything my auntie says,” he began.

“…but she’s still my auntie,” he added.

He described their relationship as “a tricky one.”

Grint first stood up for trans rights back in 2020.

“Trans women are women,” he said. “Trans men are men.”
