On Thursday, February 24, Robin Roberts announced Amber Laign's breast cancer diagnosis on Twitter.

Roberts said her partner received surgery last year and would begin her chemotherapy that morning.

The "Good Morning America" anchor noted that her lover of 17 years supported her during her cancer debacle.

Roberts revealed that she would be taking time off her news show to take care of Laign.

Roberts battled breast cancer in 2007 and a bone marrow disease five years later.

The veteran broadcaster said doctors told her she had a year or two to live without a transplant.

Fortunately, the 61-year-old's sister, Sally-May, was a match for the transplant and became her donor.

Roberts said the COVID-19 pandemic helped strengthen her bond with Laign.

The ABC personality learned to live in the moment and practice patience while quarantined together.
