They were put in sacks and their mouths were tied.
According to reports, they looked frail and frightened.
Dog Meat Free Indonesia rescued the pups from a truck.
A rescuer said, “My heart was pounding in my chest as we approached the truck because I could hear the dogs' pitiful whimpering.”
She also said that the dogs “were extremely traumatized and frightened. We got there just in the nick of time because the killing usually happens in the early hours.”
She added, “To think of the fear they must have endured is just devastating.”
The unnamed person was working in the dog meat industry for years.
The dogs are now safe and housed in a temporary shelter until they have fully recovered from the maltreatment.
