A source reportedly told PEOPLE that Naomi Judd died by suicide.

“We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness,” said a statement from her daughters.

Her husband of 32 years, Larry Strickland, also put out a statement.

“Naomi Judd's family request privacy during this heartbreaking time,” he said.

“No additional information will be released at this time,” he added.

Rumors had been circulating around social media that Naomi had shot herself.

However, those rumors have been unconfirmed by official sources at this time.

Naomi has been open with her struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts in the past.

In her 2016 memoir, she revealed she thought about taking her life on a bridge near her farm.
