Anne Heche was entrapped in the wreckage for 45 minutes before rescue efforts.

Los Angeles Fire department revealed that the smoke conditions and the heavy fire prevented them from quickly accessing the actress.

"Given the heavy fire and smoke conditions, it wasn't that you could clearly see into the vehicle or clearly be able to access it," a rep said per NBC News.

Heche's wrecked vehicle was pulled out using a heavy-duty tow truck.

Firefighters had to first "confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames within the heavily damaged structure" before they could access Heche's vehicle.

As per NBC News, the “firefighters were doing everything" possible to get to Heche and save her.

Heche was taken off life support on August 14.

Heche's son, Homer Lafoon, recently filed to be the custodian of her estate.

The 20-year-old also asked the court to make him the guardian of Heche's other son Atlas Heche Tupper.
