Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the late Sidney Poitier on Friday after he passed.

She wrote, “For me, the greatest of the 'Great Trees' has fallen: Sidney Poitier.”

“My honor to have loved him as a mentor,” she continued, calling him a friend, confidant, and teacher.

“The utmost, highest regard and praise for his most magnificent, gracious, eloquent life,” she added.

She continued, “He had an enormous soul I will forever cherish.”

She said that “he represented possibility” in an episode of “Master Class.”

She also said she was moved by his Oscar acceptance speech when she was 10-years-old.

“Because he did that, I was able to do what I have been able to do in the world,” she said.

She called the late actor “the best of what a Black person could be in the world.”
