Rapper Fetty Wap, real name Willie Junior Maxwell II, has been sentenced to six years in prison for involvement in a large-scale narcotics operation.

Fetty and five others are accused of buying kilograms of cocaine in Long Island six times in Spring 2020 to sell in New York and New Jersey.

Fetty alone is accused of dealing 25 kilograms of cocaine in New Jersey.

In August, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.

He could have faced a minimum of five and a maximum of 40 years in prison but received a six-year sentence.

Federal Judge Joanna Seybert had recommended a sentence of seven to nine years, citing Fetty's glamorization of the drug trade through his music and platform.

Fetty's lawyer, Elizabeth Macedonia, argued for the minimum sentence, stating Fetty has taken full responsibility for his crimes.

She explained Fetty's motivation for drug dealing was the struggle to provide for his family of eight children under 18 during the pandemic when he couldn't tour.

Fetty was arrested in October 2021, bonded out on $500,000, but violated his terms, landing him in prison until his court date.

While on probation, he allegedly threatened a man over FaceTime, which was part of the violation that returned him to prison.
