Mayor Bill de Blasio is ready to make NYC 100% vaccinated.
He recently introduced a new vaccine mandate that is the first of its kind.
Children ages 5-11 will need to show proof of at least one vaccine dose to enter public venues.
They must also be vaccinated to participate in after-school activities like sports or band.
Children who are age 12 and older must show proof of full vaccination for these activities.
Private businesses containing more than one employee must also be vaccinated.
The deadline for getting the vaccine is December 27 – only two days after Christmas.
This applies to in-person employees and there will be no weekly testing option.
Masks are still recommended inside NYC businesses regardless of vaccination status.
