On Wednesday, July 27, Norman Lear turned 100!

The Hollywood writer and producer hails from New Haven, Connecticut.

He was born on July 27, 1922 and is now looking back on his life at 100.

He told PEOPLE that he is looking forward to be at home celebrating.

He plans to celebrate with his wife, six children, two sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.

“How lucky am I?” he asked.

In 2019, he became the oldest person to win an Emmy at age 97.

That being said, he still considers being a father his most important accomplishment.

“I could not be more grateful for sitting here today,” he said.
