Criticized For Being Granted A Covid Quarantine Exemption In Hong Kong

Kidman is reportedly in Hong Kong filming the Amazon series 'The Expats.' However, some local residents are upset about her special treatment.

Most people entering Hong Kong are subject to a 21-day mandated quarantine regardless of vaccination status.

The Hong Kong Government put out a statement shortly after news of her arrival. It didn't specifically name the actress, but many assumed it was due to her presence in the restricted city.

“The case in discussion has been granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption for the purpose of performing designated professional work," the statement said.

The statement continued, "taking into account that it is conducive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong’s economy.”

Some angry locals took to social media.

“nicole kidman walking around hong kong without being quarantined first????? excuse me???”
