Matthew McConaughey headed back to his hometown of Uvalde, Texas.

Last week, 21 people were killed at Robb Elementary School by an 18-year-old gunman.

This included 19 children and two adults.

McConaughey headed back to his hometown to provide comfort to the grieving families.

He met with some of the parents who had lost children in the heartbreaking violence.

McConaughey was born in Uvalde and spent most of his childhood there.

His mother taught at St. Philip’s Episcopal School, only about a mile from where the shooting took place.

Rep. Tony Gonzales captured photos of the event and posted them to Twitter.

“Appreciate Uvalde native Matthew McConaughey helping us heal,” he tweeted.
