The Marvel series “Echo” has started filming in Atlanta.
Entertainment Weekly reported the news earlier this week.
The series features
Alaqua Cox
as the titular Echo/Maya Lopez.
She will be reprising her role from the Marvel “Hawkeye” Disney+ series.
Cox is Deaf, Native American, and walks with a prosthetic leg.
The “Echo” series will feature more of Maya’s Native American roots.
Last year, Cox told EW that Hollywood needs more authentic Native American casting.
“We’re breaking boundaries, breaking barriers, and to be honest, making history too,” she said.
“Echo” is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in 2023.
